    Daniel 7:13 says:
13 “ I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.
The very context of this verse has been misrepresented as a vision of Jesus at His second coming, but the context is not that at all. A serious reader would see that it is of the ascension of Christ Jesus. The vision is as Daniel is seeing it from heaven not from earth. But many want to make this the second coming and thus it fits well with their eschatology. The ascended Lord is coming to the ancient of Days and He is being brought there by the clouds.

Look at the Ascension account in Acts 1:

9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
"and a cloud received Him out of their sight." Daniel was on the receiving end in his vision and he saw Jesus coming to be seated on the throne. How could this be any other way unless you don't believe in context.

I choose to believe Daniels account and the disciples also believed it. Remember when they then asked Jesus, "When will be the sign of your coming?" What could have caused them to ask that question except for their learned knowledge of Daniel. What conversation otherwise would have led them to ask about Jesus' second coming? They had no reason to ask about a second coming. I believe that there is no other reason. The disciples did not even know that He was leaving them let alone know that He would be returning. It was not until the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon them all that it finally was made clear.
